My name is Ron Drescher. I’m an attorney practicing
bankruptcy and creditor’s right in Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania and Virginia. Today
I want to answer the question, are traffic tickets dischargeable in bankruptcy? Well,
this is a short and easy answer and the answer is no, they’re not dischargeable in bankruptcy.
Traffic tickets are considered criminal fines owed to a government entity and that is specifically
excluded from discharge in all the chapters of the bankruptcy code. So unfortunately or
fortunately, depending upon your point of view, cannot use bankruptcy to get out from
under your traffic fines. My name is Ron Drescher. I’m an attorney practicing bankruptcy and
creditor’s rights and if you have a question about which of your debts are dischargeable
in Chapter 7, please pick up the phone and call me. I would love to hear from you.
