Hello and welcome to 60 Seconds with
Sergio. Hello, I’m Sergio Cabanas the owner and founder of the Cabanas Law Firm here in Pembroke Pines, Florida. So, today’s topic is Is There Any Way I Can Keep my Spouse from Pursuing a Divorce? Well, unfortunately the short answer to that question is that there is no way to keep the spouse from pursuing a divorce. They have every legal right to do it. Under Florida law, there’s no way to keep people in a relationship, in a marriage, that they no longer want to keep. So despite their religious background someone who’s right or who’s wrong in Florida is a no-fault state. Either spouse can pursue a divorce even if you don’t want to. Now, you can having said that you can try to persuade the other spouse to undergo marriage counseling or try to negotiate something else with him or her to try to save the marriage. But from a purely legal perspective, there’s no way to prevent the divorce if one of the spouses decides to pursue it. I hope this information was helpful for you. Now, remember the purpose of these videos is to provide some general guidance on commonly asked questions. Of course, this is not a substitute for a personal face-to-face consultation with an attorney who can review the specifics of your case and learn more about how the law will apply to the specifics of your case.
