Steve Huggins: I’ve been dealing with bankruptcy
since 1998, handling mainly Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 Bankruptcy for consumer debtors. [GRAPHIC: J. Steven Huggins, Attorney at Law] A Chapter 7 bankruptcy is what I like to term
a liquidation. More or less a walk-away from your debts type of a bankruptcy. Kind of drawing
a line in the sand and getting a fresh start. Some people might not qualify for a Chapter
7 based on income. So I need to know their income situation and if there are certain
debts are not going to be discharged in a Chapter 7 they need to know that also. A Chapter 13 is what I like to call a debt
consolidation. Kinda rolls everything together into one monthly payment. Yeah some debts
are taken care outside of that like a monthly mortgage payment but a Chapter 13 can get
you caught up on your mortgage, caught up on your car payments or take care of your
credit card debt and your medical bills that may have come up. Can even help you with respect
to some family court debts you may owe like alimony and child support. We offer free initial consultations. I do
that because I want you to be able to come in and talk to me and get the proper information
that you need. You’re gonna meet with me. You don’t meet with a paralegal. You don’t
meet with a junior attorney, you meet with me. You can look up a lot of stuff on the internet
and find a lot of information. But I want to make sure you have the right information
when it comes to bankruptcy in South Carolina. [GRAPHIC: The Huggins Law Firm, PA, www.hugginslawsc.com,
